Genuine repentance and pretentious piety stand in stark contrast in the gospel and all around us in the world today. Yet the good news is that God is merciful to sinners who call upon God’s name with humility. Paul encourages us to keep the faith over the entirety of the race, as we strive toward to goal of the heavenly kingdom.
