A new church year begins: Christ is coming soon! Today’s readings challenge us to wake from sleep and to live alert to the needs of others for we know neither the day nor the hour of the Lord’s coming. Isaiah proclaims the day when God will gather all nations on the holy mountain and there will be no more war or suffering. Though we wait for the consummation of the day of the Lord, each day, we walk with Christ who is Emmanuel, God with us.
