Christ the King is the last Sunday after Pentecost and marks the end of the church year. On this Sunday we meditate on the fullness of Christ Jesus as the Anointed One, the Messiah, who reigns as King over all creation, the cosmos and time. He is revealed through his Word of truth made manifest in the church. All who recognize the truth listen to him. His kingdom is one of peace and nonviolence. He loves and frees us by his blood, making us into a kingdom – the priesthood of all believers – serving God and our neighbor.
