In today’s gospel two disciples are joined by a stranger as they walk to Emmaus. The stranger listens to them, encouraging them with God’s word by opening their minds and kindling faith in their hearts. The disciples said “Stay with us” to the stranger, and as they gathered around the table, the stranger took bread, blessed and broke it, and their eyes were opened as they recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread. May your hearts burn within you as he dwells in you and may you see him today in the bread and the cup given for you.
