In today’s gospel a Samaritan woman asked Jesus for water, an image of our physical and spiritual thirst – our thirst for God. Jesus offered her living water, a sign of God’s grace flowing from the waters of baptism, giving salvation to all who believe. As we journey to the cross and resurrection feast of Easter, Christ promises to dwell in us in word, water, and meal—offering the water of eternal life and the food of his own body and blood, sustaining us to do God’s work in the world.
