Jesus calls us salt and light, people that flavor life with genuine humanity and compassion, and people who illuminate the darkness with hope and peace. We are baptized and sent into the world to shine with the light of Christ so that others might know God’s justice and love. We are called to live with the wisdom and power of God in order that the hungry are fed, the homeless poor sheltered, and the naked clothed. As Isaiah writes, when we do these things, “Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry for help, and he will say, Here I am.”
