Jesus’ appearance was changed on the mountain as he prayed, and the disciples heard a voice saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” Jesus’ transfiguration began in prayer as he was revealed as God’s Chosen Son. May we also be open, as Paul writes, to “being transformed into the same image” as Christ so that we can act with boldness and freedom for others. In a broken world, God seeks to transform all people into the image of Christ so that we can “commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.”
