God does not promise that the path of the disciple will be easy. There may be rejection and Jesus declares that he may bring division. Yet Paul also reminds us that though we may experience rejection, frustration, division, and death, God’s grace and love raise us to new life daily. Discipleship is about staying close to Jesus, listening to him, carrying his cross, and proclaiming him all your life.
