Why does evil exist in the world? —it is an age-old question. In the parable of the wheat and the weeds Jesus reveals that both grow together in the world until the harvest of God’s kingdom. Paul, too, reminds us of this tension as we live between decay and hope, longing for the day when creation will be freed from suffering. Jesus sows the good seed of the kingdom in us so that we might be a visible sign of God’s kingdom in this world, suffering with him that we might be transformed by him.
