When Paul wrote, “for when I am weak, then I am strong,” he forever pointed others to Christ whose power is made perfect in weakness. Jesus sent his disciples out seemingly with nothing – nothing but his authority. They took nothing that could be mistaken as signs of earthly power: no bread, no bag, no money and no spare clothing. Yet possessing only the authority of Jesus, they cast out demons, and anointed and cured the sick. With his power perfected in weakness, Jesus sends us out again and again for the healing of the world.
