On September 28, our youth watched the Panthers game in the Youth Room. Despite the Panthers loss that day, we had a great time hanging out, playing games, and enjoying pizza and snacks. We played a game of “Frisbee Rain” before the football game started, and Alex led a devotion at halftime on idols (including sports!).
On October 12, St. Mark’s youth met with youth from Morning Star Lutheran for a chilly picnic at Cordelia Park. Then we walked over to McCreesh Place. McCreesh Place is a Supportive Housing Community that provides apartments to 90 formerly homeless men who have at least one disability. We had an ice cream social with the men, played bingo and handed out prizes to them, and sang a few hymns with them. The residents sounded great singing Amazing Grace and Come Thou Fount!
On October 19, our youth helped run the Halloween Party for the children in our church. We were in charge of the fishing booth (where candy was caught) and the mummy wrap station, and youth helped out at the fake tattoo station as well. There was also a cookie decorating station and a place for bobbing for apples. I heard good reports from the parents of our children!
Our youth will be holding a BBQ Rib Fundraiser on the front lawn on November 9. We will take donations at the lunch, and all proceeds will go toward our youth’s mission trip to Cayey, Puerto Rico in June 2015. If you would like to join in the fun and fellowship, please RSVP with Alex English at email@example.com. Let Alex know which of the following lunches you would like to order:
Option #1: Ribs, potato salad, baked beans, cornbread, salad, and cobbler.
Option #2: Pork tenderloin, potato salad, baked beans, cornbread, salad, and cobbler.
Children’s Plate: Chicken tenders and tater tots.
