On April 5, our youth did an excellent job serving at our annual Easter Breakfast and participating in the Easter Processional. On Maundy Thursday, the sanctuary was stripped of so many of the things that make it beautiful: the paraments, the plants, the chalices, and the crucifer’s cross. On Easter morning the youth and others returned these items to the sanctuary to make it beautiful again, symbolizing Christ’s resurrection from death. What a beautiful service!
On April 12 our youth prepared for Youth Sunday, and on April 19, they led the congregation in worship at the 10:30 service. Our youth did a great job leading the congregation musically and liturgically, and senior Ashley Ginns delivered a heartfelt sermon on forgiveness.
On May 1 our youth enjoyed a very fun lock-in! We played games on the front lawn until it was dark, we had time to worship God and hear a message, we played several rounds of “Secret Service,” and had lots of free time to hang out in the Youth Room. A special thanks to Chris Parrish and Ashley Knoy for serving as chaperones for this overnight event!
In addition to all of these great activities, our youth have continued to serve in worship as acolytes, crucifers, lectors, prayer assistants, communion assistants, and ushers, and they have continued to explore their faith in Confirmation Class and High School Sunday School.
