The Children’s Ministry mission is growing young disciples in Christ by providing a variety of faith-based activities and fellowship with a focus on young children and their families.
Sunday School/Godly Play
Sunday School classes are available to all St. Mark’s members ages 3 to adult each Sunday. Our program for elementary school students uses the Godly Play curriculum (www.godlyplay.org), a Montesorri-based, interactive series of lessons that teach Bible stories and encourage children to use their imaginations while learning. Approximately twice a semester, our students volunteer during our Sunday morning Rise and Shine Breakfast for members of our congregation and wider community.
Older children, who attend church, are invited to the front of the church each week for the Children’s Sermon to listen to a meaningful message from one of our pastors. Immediately following, the children are escorted to the chapel for Children’s Church where they experience interactive learning of the Gospel.
Each Sunday morning during worship services and Sunday School hour, a nursery staff supervisor and parent volunteers offer love and care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. St. Mark’s is pleased to offer state-of the art nursery facilities and encourages families to visit the Nursery and meet the staff and volunteers personally.
Each year, our 3rd-5th graders are invited to attend BYG (Building Youth Groups) Camp at Camp Agape in Fuquay-Varina. Our children always report having a blast!
Our Children’s Ministry has occasional faith-formation activities, including handbells and music. Children of all ages are always invited to participate in the annual Christmas play.
